I say, let it go and revert back to my original line,(well almost). We all move on, day to day, and what we were then is not what we are now. We all have many facets to our personality. Is the person whom I like and respect NOW, the same person who at one time was obnoxious and totally rude. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt. Where everyone looks at everyone else sideways, thinking 'is it them and are they now GENUINE'. I often see another side to people when guards are dropped for a second.įor me personally, I feel that offering someone up as the sacrificial lamb is not so clever. In all honesty, how many of us have got carried away at times, and later on thought, what was I doing. We are all strangers in lots of ways and others only see what each of us want others to see.Įxcept that is, when some are lucky enough to get to meet other members, person to person. That post was also locked and I am sure if I read it now, I would think oh,no, was that me lol. I have seen this happen a lot of times and remember that I myself deleted the original topic on a post that I made many moons ago, because I realized that I had made the wrong assumptions. So someone joined JPF with a real bad attitude and got carried away in a downward spiral on the original post. ‘Let him or her without sin, cast the first stone’. If he doesn't, he'll have to sort out for himself how to handle the fallout from being exposed as a double persona. I think he'll leave of his own accord now that his name-change has been exposed. It's not like this guy is a Wall Street broker or a politician running for office. It's not like I'm going into business with the guy or socializing with him. I don't trouble myself with a little make-believe on an Internet forum. And anyway, all the regulars have now identified him by his writing style.ĭeception? The world is full of it. Did anyone believe his tales of glory and name-checking? In his return under a second nom de plume he's been the polar opposite and, in fact, something of a social gadfly. It's not like Sand圜ountryLyricist was anything more than a little pompous, overbearing and a big-time braggart in his posts under that name. I don't think you need to rough up Peter anymore to repay Paul. But looking at the SCL ramblings, it's obvious what name he's posting under now. I'd forgotten about Sand圜ountryLyric until you reposted one of his threads. And who knows, something might work out.īrian, I think at this point, you've already let the cat out of the bag. Like those Nigerian scams though, you can't protect people from themselves. I think decisions like this would be an internal struggle. I don't see anything wrong with you telling people that so and so originally posted as Sandy either.Īs I said, I've never been in the unenviable position of heading up a forum. I also think you confront them (option 3) but I would leave it up to them to change their screen name or not. So I think number 2 is the option you should take. I figure if I get more involved I'll know who they really are. I don't know if people's names are real on here or not and it doesn't matter to me at the level I use JPF. Heck, I post under sausagelink because in another unmentionable forum I post as coldcut. Therefore, it doesn't really matter to me if Sandy posts under a different name or not. If someone wants to get involved with Sandy, let 'em. To relate this to this particular Sand圜ountryLyricist matter, you can't protect people from themselves. Never the less, THOUSANDS of people lose THOUSANDS of dollars each year by either falling for these scams or believing they can beat the bad guys at their own game. On almost every page, it will say "this is a scam" in some type of wording. If you do a search on Nigerian 419 scams, you'll come up with hundreds of pages. I've never owned a forum like this and if I did, I would have some rules, but they would deal more with content. I personally have always had trouble with the way people view the internet. I'd like to hear everyone else's thoughts? Ask them (or force them) to leave (I didn't remove the original Sand圜ountryLyricist by the way, he/she stopped posting on their own) since we don't appreciate deception?Īny thoughts? I am all for second chances, but I really don't like deception. Confront the person directly and change their new display name to their old one Sand圜ountryLyricist so everyone knows who they are dealing withĤ. Allow this person a chance to come out and admit who they are so we can clear the air and move forward in a more open and trustworthy way?ģ. Let it go, even though they are being deceptive without folks knowing that they may also deceive them about other things?Ģ. After some suspicions, I have discovered that Sand圜ountryLyricist is back on our site, posting regularly under a different name.
